How quickly will Congress pass health care reform now that the "Government Option" is off the table?
Change Now asked:
It's seems that we're not yet ready for Medicare for all.
It's seems that we're not yet ready for Medicare for all.
This doesn't mean that we stop trying to reform a health care system that's wacked out.
Why do employers still get stuck with paying for health care?
Historically employers would offer health insurance to attract good employees to their company. They could do that because health insurance was relatively cheap. Now it's totaly out of control.
Your employer is not obligated to pay your auto, life or disibility insurance. Why should they be still be obligated to pay your health insruance?

I don't know where you get your advanced information, but the public option has neve been taken off the table.
is it off of the table or is it just the media speculating
Stop jumping to GOP conclusions…no one said it was "off the table"…that's just what you are HOPING happens. Keep wishing..and when it passes WITH a "public option", you can cry about that later…LAMO!
Obama hasn't said the option is off the table
Let's hope not too quickly. What exactly are we changing without offering a government option? Without that, it's just some "feel-good" legislation without any teeth.
you just answered your question.. "Historically employers would offer health insurance to attract good employees to their company". health insurance is still relatively cheap if under a group plan. (which most are).. health insurance through your employer was and always will be a perk of the job. just like 401k's and such.. employers aren't obligated to pay for anything, but you won't get many quality employees by not offering it.
by the way, people should heed the lessons from Tennessee's failed attempt at a "public option" in providing similiar coverage through TennCare. it was a complete disaster.
Unfortunately the death of the government option has been greatly exaggerated.
It is still much alive—-Democrats are just playing a game of smoke and mirrors, calling it a "Co-op", but its still a tax-payer funded bkacup that will takeover once private insurers are forced into bankruptcy.
The public oprion is anything but off the table. its just the Obama won't be pushing for a public option and will sign healthcare legislation without it if it comes across his desk.
The media and the GOP saying the public option is off the table is just wishful thinking on their part. Obama has not said it was and Congress is on recess.
I like your logic though, way to think it through and argue your case, so star for you!
I think everyone is for some reform…just not government allotted health care.
The insurance companies need to be regulated more closely, I might appreciate my government stepping in on my behalf there but I do not want them to basically bill me twice for the same bullsh*t.
Health benefits are not compulsory. Over time the labor market has become competitive enough that health benefits have become an accepted part of salary to retain workers. Or otherwise stated the free market dictates it.
Folks, again we have heard a member of the president's cabinet make a policy statement and then have it corrected the next day. These "snafus" muddy things when it comes to comprehending the administration's true position on any number of issues.
I now believe this is a systematic means to confuse the public and muddle any debate. This has occurred with the vice president and others with such frequency that it cannot simply be mixed messages coming from cabinet meetings and terrible mistakes being made by staff members who advise those on the "campaign" stump.
go to CNN.com to keep up with the news. Your info. is not accurate.
Obama is not a loser. He is going to get what he wants. Sometimes he backs off & sometimes it appears he is losing but then he catchs his breath & runs hard for the finish line & is declared the winner.
Republicans have nothing but losers. Bush had a pattern of inherited a fortune & ruining everything & everyone he touched. Obama has a pattern of inheriting challenged. Can you imagine over 40 growing up in this country & being half black & half white. It is still not ease for many but he overcame what he had to, to become all he is today. He has a pattern if you haven't watched it in the past year, start watching it now. We are very fortunate. Things are going to work out for the working people.
I don't think the government option is off the table. Let's remember there are still 5 bills under consideration, and after the recess, they will have to conference and try to reconcile them. We can't know what will be in the final bill until we get a final bill.
